The Access team is proud to introduce the Access 2013 public preview, which will make it easier than ever for everyday people to organize the data in their lives and businesses using Access apps. On this blog, you'll be able to learn about the improvements included in this new release.

Access has always been a great tool to help you organize and run a small business or a team. This release focuses on bringing Access databases to the web, making them more useful than ever. Your database can be hosted by Microsoft through Office 365 and securely accessed from any tablet or computer—even if the device doesn't have Access installed.

Getting started is easier, too, taking just 60 seconds to get your first Access app up and running. With little or no additional effort, you'll end up with a finished app that is both functional and beautiful—automatically—thanks to an enhanced user interface. Finally, we've made some big improvements under the covers to make your apps faster and more extensible. Your data is now stored in a full-fledged SQL Server database. When Microsoft hosts your database in the cloud, we'll use SQL Azure; when you host it yourself on your network, you can use SQL Server 2012. Advanced users will love the fact that they can directly connect to SQL Server with familiar tools for powerful analysis and integration.

Access 2013 does not include support for Access Data Projects (ADPs). Access 2013 introduces a new application type that enables you to create a web-based Access app. By using this application type, you can create web-based applications that use the power of SQL Server on premise or in the cloud.

Access 2013 introduces a new application type that enables you to create a web-based Access app. By using this application type, you can create web-based applications that use the power of SQL Server on premise or in the cloud.

In an Access app on SharePoint Server, when you create a table, a query or a data macro in the Access client in which you are creating tables, views or triggers in a SQL Server database. Using the Access client, you can open your database to other applications that connect to SQL Server. This enables you to share your data or load data from other systems into your Access app.

With Office 365 and Access 2013, you can build applications that reach your users without having to worry about deployment challenges, software installation issues, or operating system compatibilities. Build your app in one location and share it across the web with the power of SQL Azure and SQL Server.

SQL Azure, the cloud version of SQL Server, does not support features that Access Data Projects (ADPs) rely on to operate. To support ADPs on SQL Azure, Access would require significant changes.

For these reasons, Access 2013 does not support ADPs. ADPs have been a great tool for working with SQL Server in an on-premise environment, however much has changed since ADPs were introduced in Access 2000. Users now expect their database to be available wherever they are.

Membuat Ribbon di Access 2007 ke Atas

Pemakai Microsoft Access 2003 atau yang lebih lama tentu agak kelabakan juga ketika Microsoft memperkenalkan pemakaian Ribbon pada Access 2007, menggantikan Menubar dan Toolbar yang biasa dipakai. Pembuatan ribbon sendiri ternyata tidak semudah membuat menubar atau toolbar. Akhirnya banyak yang telat mengadopsi ribbon ini, termasuk saya hehe...

Tetapi sebenarnya pembuatan ribbon sendiri tidaklah sesulit yang dibayangkan. Berikut ini saya cantumkan beberapa artikel menarik tentang cara pembuatan ribbon. Mau saya tulis rasanya sama saja dengan yang ada di artikel-artikel tersebut, jadi silahkan disimak saja :)
